What we’ve been reading this week

At the core of every data challenge is the need to drive greater value within an organisation. In our reading list this week, we take a closer look at some of the ways that artificial intelligence and data analytics are helping to drive value within organisations.

We begin this week with an article from Forbes. In the article, they explore how AI-driven predictive analytics are helping organisations to stabilise their supply chains in the face of increasingly turbulent markets. In the article, they outline that despite uncertainty, organisations increased spending on innovative technologies and systems during the pandemic.

Artificial Intelligence is also helping to drive greater value in the agri-food sector. In this article from Business Insider, they discuss how “AI, smarts sensors and “lettuce-picking robots are transforming agriculture”. In the article, they showcase a 1,900-hectare Australian farm that is “fully automated and hands-free”.

Using state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies, the solution provides users with the capability to defend their supply chain, manage risk, promote public trust and support population health.

The healthcare industry has been at the forefront of the data analytics and AI revolution. In this article from the BBC, they explore how artificial intelligence can be used to diagnose dementia from a single brain scan.

Artificial intelligence and data analytics are also creating unique and interesting experiences within the arts. Taking inspiration from the Guardian’s infamous GPT-3 article, a show at The Young Vic utilises AI to create a play “constructed over multiple evenings, culminating in a short show that combines human direction and performance with machine imagination and stagecraft”.
