We take a look back at some of the exciting news and developments that happened at Analytics Engines in 2021.
February KTN UK AI Digital Roadshow
In February, we were delighted to take part in the KTN UK AI Digital Roadshow. The event took attendees on a virtual road trip around the UK to showcase how innovative and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing and predictive analytics are supporting organisations within the professional and financial services sector.
March Tech Nation Report 2021, Canadian Business & FarSight Horizon Scanner
In March, Analytics Engines were featured as a case study in the Tech Nation Report 2021. The case study, which can be found in the UK Sector Strengths section of the report, provides a brief overview of the company, and highlights the company’s culture of R&D and new technology adoption. Further to our inclusion, the annual report – which features a foreword from Prime Minister Boris Johnson MP – details developments across the UK tech and investment landscape.
Later in the month, we were also interviewed by Canadian Business about the growing impact of Northern Irish technology companies on the global stage.
We also had an opportunity to showcase our FarSight Horizon Scanner solution at several events, including the Cambridge Open Innovation Forum and the Virtual Food Security Summit.
May Finding Value in the Noise
In May, Analytics Engines CTO Alastair McKinley took part in a webinar hosted by The Analytics Institute of Ireland which explored the growing demand for data analytics solutions and considered how “raw” data can provide organisations with insight into the complex relationships that exist in siloed datasets.
June Analytics Institutes Award Nominations & NI Water
At the Analytics Institute National Analytics & AI Awards this year, our work with Innovate UK in response to the unique challenges presented by the COVID-19 Pandemic was shortlisted for Public Sector Analytics Project of the Year, while Lead Data Scientist Liam Brannigan was shortlisted for Analytics Leader of the Year.
We were also one of four companies selected to help NI Water to identify ground-breaking processes and data intelligence techniques to achieve efficiencies in the area of water and wastewater treatment.
July Smart Nano NI
In July, Smart Nano NI – a Northern Ireland nano technology consortium of which Analytics Engines is a key partner – was awarded £42.2 million. The funding, which has been awarded by the UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) Strength in Places Fund presents a game-changing opportunity for Northern Ireland’s nano technology and manufacturing sector.
August Transforming Regulatory Compliance
In October, we were selected by the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Better Regulation Executive (BRE) to deliver the Alpha phase for the ‘Open Regulation Platform (ORP) Project’. This project sets out to investigate if digital technology can provide a new way to approach regulation which could have transformative effects and generate new market opportunities.
September Tech Nation Applied AI 3.0 Cohort, NI Business Showcase & Digital DNA
In September, we were proud to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading scaleups after being selected to join the Tech Nation Applied AI 3.0 programme. Applied AI is Tech Nation’s growth programme for Artificial Intelligence to help the UK’s most promising founders who are applying AI in practical areas and creating real-world impact. Head of Marketing Geoff McGimpsey and Senior Data Scientist Lauren Stephens pitched at the launch and engaged with other attendees.
Analytics Engines CTO Alastair McKinley appeared on stage alongside Partner at Mills Selig Glenn Watterson at Digital DNA. The session discussed the impact of innovative and emerging technologies on the legal sector.
November AICon, CIVICA Perspectives & Oliver Lennon
In November, we welcomed Oliver Lennon as the new chair for Analytics Engines. Oliver has worked in the software industry for over 30 years and has significant experience in company start-up, leadership, enterprise software, enterprise sales, global growth, venture capital funding and successful exit.
Analytics Engines CTO Alastair McKinley was among a number of thought leaders addressing this year’s AICon event in Belfast, where he discussed what it means to be an AI company, why it’s an exciting space to be involved in, and how to stay ahead of the competition.
Head of Marketing Geoff McGimpsey spoke at the Civica NorthStar ‘Perspectives’ event on the future of machine learning within the public sector.
