Located in south Belfast, Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) accommodates 4,000 staff and 23,000 students across its 3 million square foot estate. Management of the university’s 250 buildings – 98 of which are listed – is the role of estates team.
Overseeing the estates team is Damien Toner, Director of Estates at Queen’s University Belfast. One of the key challenges identified by Damien was to “adapt and evolve the physical
buildings” to meet the needs of a fastchanging teaching environment.
FacilitiesIQ is a data analytics solution which provides comprehensive insight into room utilisation, allowing estates and building managers to more efficiently manage space, staff and energy use. It also allows organisations to more effectively plan and design future space usage.
– a real-time view of occupancy versus capacity
– heatmaps showing room utilisation over time across the estate
– a view of energy cost in relation to occupancy
– insight into room usage over a defined period.
“I would recommend working with Analytics Engines for their ability to quickly turn data into practical, actionable insight. Utilising existing WiFi data, this solution will help us to maximise the efficient use of our assets whilst also reducing our environmental impact. Having delivered a successful pilot, we’re now looking forward to rolling it out across the university campus. The opportunities provided by this solution are endless.”
