Using data to improve patient outcomes

The Analytics Engines team has been involved in a number of Small Research Business Initiatives (SBRIs).

What is an SBRI? Government says the:

SBRI brings together government challenges and ideas from business to create innovative solutions.

One of the innovative solutions we produced through the SBRI process evolved into a healthcare product called ‘PRECISION for Pharmacy’.

It’s a data analytics real-time reporting tool designed to increase the productivity and effectiveness of clinical pharmacy teams. The tool provides the right level of pharmacy expertise, to the right patient and at the right time.

The Department for the Economy has produced a video on the challenge we answered. Check out our CTO Alastair McKinley describing our solution [0:32s]:

PRECISION for Pharmacy’ – co-created with the Western Health and Social Care Trust – is now among the finalists for this year’s Northern Ireland Healthcare Awards which take place tomorrow night (Thursday February 28).

Our product is one of four teams shortlisted under the ‘Most Innovative Use of an EHealth Solution to Improve Patient Care and Safety’.

The SBRI process has been a fascinating journey, the legacy of which is a solution which improves patient outcomes, increases productivity of the clinical team and which is fit for the NHS of the future.
